Arrest’em All

Some prosecutors have finally had some sense knocked into their heads because of the recent events in the country.  Seeing the video of George Floyd being killed and the behaviors of cops during the protests is causing a surge in police officers being charged by district attorneys all over the nation, that is.  This is a good thing.  Moreover, the decision to arrest these criminal cops and prosecute them does not appear to be public relation stunts by the diligent prosecutors.  The choice to arrest these wayward cops is a victory for actual justice and it should be done more often and not only during times of civil unrest.  Arrest all the law enforcers who break the law—not only cops.  Prosecutors should band together to let the citizens know that they are righteous in their profession and do apply the law equally.  Send a message to the public that says no one is above the law.  In other words, if you are a law enforcement officer and break the law, you will have the same legal processes that any other accused person has.  The thing is that the punishment—when law enforcers are found guilty—should be stricter because they have no excuse to be ignorant to the laws in the country.

The recent spike in charges toward police officers should also be a wake up call for citizens to demand constant internal checks and balances for law enforcement systems.  There is no better way to ensure equality in the United States.  People should not become law enforcers to get a badge or hold a title and do whatever they want.  These power-tripping cops, and other law enforcers, need to be removed and made an example of.  This brings attention to the hiring/firing processes for law enforcers.  That is, new procedures need to be created and checked by citizens.  If citizens do not think a person is fit for duty, then that person should not be hired or allowed to keep their job.  We are talking about public servants, why not include the public in the hiring processes?

Cops and other law enforcers will read this and become angered and show their lack of public service, but such behavior is only an example of how inept they are.  Police officers, and other public servants, ought to be happy to be selected by the public to serve and protect people in their community.   Case in point, there needs to be a voting process for cops to be hired and fired that includes the public.  The law enforcers who disagree have something to hide or want to feel powerful in an unjust manner.  This bullshit needs to end.  Law enforcers wear the American flag on their uniform and need to stop disgracing it. Make it happen, America!  Let your law enforcers know that you want them to serve and protect you.  Let them know that you do not want to fear police officers and others in the legal system.
