Unnecessary Local Police Departments

            All throughout the United States there are tiny towns and villages that have police departments.  Many of these towns and villages are in rural or suburban settings and do not have many criminal activities in them.  Yet, there is a proclivity to waste taxpayers' dollars on these alleged law enforcers and keep the few police officers that patrol these areas employed.  This author’s argument is what is the point of this?  Any police department that has less than two hundred employees does not need to exist, especially in an area that has no crime or little crime.  State police and county sheriff’s departments could easily do the job that small police departments are currently doing – or suggesting that they are doing in many cases. 

The idea that every town or village is in need of central police department is ridiculous, and the people who live in these places, in many cases, have no idea about how much of their money is being spent on unnecessary law enforcement.  A question needs to be asked, which is:  If these police departments are so vital, then what to do they do on a day-to-day basis that makes them so important?  A few cat in the tree calls?  Maybe some pesky loitering going on from some travelers?  What the fuck is this bullshit all about?  There is no need to have some lame police department that does nothing except drive in circles all day. 

            Even worse, many of the tiny police departments think they are protecting Fort Knox.  Very small police departments – who have nothing to do or protect – still have their officers walk around in society with bullet proof vests and firearms.  Who is shooting at these cops and what are they shooting at?  The rambunctious squirrel stealing all of the nuts in a person’s backyard?  That fuckin’ squirrel will totally bust a cap in some cops' asses.  What the fuck?  This bullshit needs to end and these wannabe military jackasses need to just turn over the squad car and badge to the state police or deputies.  At least train them and make these unnecessary police departments become state police officers or sheriff’s deputies.  Goddamn!  Many of these tiny police departments are employed with people who received no training whatsoever as well.  Simply put, they get hired and get a badge, receive a gun, and have no idea about the criminal justice system’s operations, constitutional rights, or even criminal laws.  But they know how shoot that gun – maybe.  Not so sure about the quality of firearms training for these useless police officers, either.

            In conclusion, these waste-of-money police departments need to be eliminated.  They burn up funding in budgets, have no idea what they are doing, have nothing to do, and simply sit around and get paid from tax dollars that could be spent on something that actually helps a small town or village.  Even if a situation were to arise in one of these jurisdictions, what would the small number of police officers be able to do?  They would probably just call the real police.  Useless, dumb, and unqualified people making money for fighting crime in areas that have no crime to begin with.  What the fuck, America?
