March of the Penguins!

Politicians gather to look busy and to maintain public relations conditions that have been manifested by themselves.  Arrogant publicity to appear concerned about social issues in other words.  This is not good.  As the common discourse – that somehow has become routine in American politics – occurs time-and-time again, the public suffers from these half-ass and phony public showings.  Criminal justice reform is the most fraudulent and worst show that the politicians are participating in.  Why?  Because congregating to approve of new criminal justice policies and then returning to other issues without continuing with the previously mentioned public relations actions gives false hope to the millions of Americans who are directly and indirectly involved with the criminal justice system.  Moreover, it also shows that the politicians are not concerned about authentic public service, and are also too timid to oust a colleague’s prior policy making.  Which is just kissing their buddy’s or political party’s ass and not representing the constituents who have had their hopes raised; being stagnant in public service sucks.  For example, the federal criminal justice system is in dire need of reform, yet politicians – both Republicans and Democrats – are afraid to address the issues because of party affiliation and because it makes many of them look mistaken in their prior public service.  We cannot have that can we, America?  Policy makers are never wrong and creating laws that are an actual representation of the public is something that is inappropriate these days.  Fuck these false public relations meetings.

The current federal criminal justice system was created by Nancy and Ronald Reagan and the Office of National Drug Control Policy at the time of the crack-cocaine scare, and then carried on by the following presidential administrations without much justification except for the above-mentioned reasons (being afraid to change botched policies and schmoozing with political associates).  As the country evolved, and the results of these horrible federal policies became known, politicians have dodged these issues by not maintaining conversations about the topic or by exhibiting minor augmentations that are suggested to be monumental in the process of criminal justice reform.  This is bullshit and shitty governance.   Social scientists have denounced the current federal system, federal judges are opposed to it (the practices of the federal criminal justice system), and most importantly, the citizens who are affected by the rigid federal system are opposed to it (not only defendants and their families who are involved with the federal criminal justice system – meaning that many other civilians believe that the federal criminal justice system is ridiculous).  Why are more public hearings about reforming the system not happening?  Ronald Reagan’s administration was not that great and the homage that Republicans are engaging in needs to end.  With that being said, the patronage by the Democrats ought to be ceased as well (in regard to criminal justice reform for both parties).  Both parties have not done much except sustain horrible laws that harm millions of Americans and when the topic of reform arises they simply point to minor changes or pardons to solidify the half-ass public relations about the issue.  Fuckin’ bullshit!  In sum, both political parties are guilty of misrepresenting the public regarding criminal justice reform; whichever one is less active can be your call, though.  Is that a bipartisan statement?

A more detailed and narrow example can be provided; federal lawmakers created the almighty federal sentencing chart and suggested that it provided the district courts with an impervious concept of equal justice when applied to criminal defendants.  This is typical political jargon and, again, brings up issues about false representation of the public.  Discretion by federal judges and prosecutors ended with the implementation of this foolish chart because it (the sentencing chart) removes the purposes of judges and prosecutors and their decision making.  Why do we even have a judge?  This chart has all the answers according to Congress.  Fuck, criminal defense attorneys are not even required because of this chart and the biased federal criminal justice laws.  Who needs courtroom procedures and constitutional rights when we have crappy criminal justice policies and prosecutors and judges pointing to the almighty chart?  An alleged fair document has uprooted the federal criminal justice system and made fools of federal judges and other federal law enforcers.  What the fuck, Congress?  And any bullshit arguments about the Booker case will not be entertained.  Every federal court in this country uses the sentencing chart and its suggested range most of the time. So, all of the people who claim that the Supreme Court ended the foolish activities provided by the almighty chart because of its ruling in the Booker case can go eat a big pile of dog shit.

Marching to the same lethargic beat of a political drum is what is going on in the United States when discussions about criminal justice reform start.  Which is that the public officials will briefly mention positive change or perform some minor amendment in order to not be viewed as incoherent to the public’s requests.  Phony public service and regression seems to be the popular discourse.  Not cool, politicians.  Not cool at all.  Federal law enforcers look like jackasses because of federal lawmakers.  And “we the people” was a good opening line?
