The Insurgence of Vietnam and Korean War Veterans
Korean and Vietnam War
veterans were called upon by their country and not only fulfilled the
expectations, but surpassed their call of duty and transitioned into community
service organizations across the United States after the wars. It is now time for them to continue these
practices and help the next generation of military service personnel and other
American civilians become better organized and educated in patriotism. These veterans are the next Greatest
Generation and the country needs them now more than ever. We have domestic and international turmoil
that requires their experience and wisdom so that the country progresses for
the better.
Currently, the country is
in a two-part state of political apathy and international aggressiveness that
is similar to the period of time in which these heroes were called upon by
their generation’s government. That is,
we have serious drug abuse that is killing people and causing other great
despair, gun violence at an unprecedented level, a fraudulent justice system,
politicians who cater to the needs of only the wealthy, domestic and
international terrorist attacks in our communities, sociological
disorganization in urban communities, poorly managed healthcare, lack of
gainful employment for both the American heroes and other citizens, banks billing
students with ridiculous interest rates, threats of war in North Korea, and oppression
against females. And this is the short
and generalized list of social issues that are abundant in our society.
Our veterans have the
ability to stand up and talk about these problems because of their social role
in our country and in turn be part of a positive transition. Vietnam and Korean War veterans – as well as
all other military professionals – have this power because of their patriotic
dedication to the country and any person, or group, who does not take the time
to listen to our American veterans who speak out against the above-mentioned
matters is engaging in extreme negligence toward the foundation of the United
States. Veterans sacrificed so much for
the country and they now deserve the credit for helping the country in times of
lost hope. Rise up and show the next
generation to respectfully, and maturely, participate in positive activism,
Korean and Vietnam War veterans! It can
be done. Public officials will listen to military veterans who are calling for better public service and favorable
social progressions. The First Amendment
in this country allows for the people to peaceably redress their government,
what better leaders in these actions than our military service members exist? Not many others can say they served their
country like the way that our armed service practitioners have – especially the
Korean and Vietnam War veterans.
These veterans should
establish community forums where discussions about the state of the country
occurs and then generate beneficial solutions.
Washington, and state capitals, should be flooded with ideas that help
the country positively grow from veterans of all walks of life; and it should
be spearheaded by the Korean and Vietnam veteran lobbying groups. Fuck any disdain from people who think that
Korean and Vietnam veterans should quietly stand aside and let the country that
they fought for turn to shit. Once more,
we need you now more than ever!
Moreover, these specific veterans (Vietnam and Korean War veterans) also
hold the key to positive influences in our culture because of their
relationships with the World War Two generation – a generation that is
unfortunately almost forever gone.
Carrying the services that were learned from the Greatest
Generation and educating the next wave of children and young adults about
proactive measures to make a better United States is an additional civic duty,
and should encompass taking the respect of our country’s veterans and doing
something outstanding with it. The millennials
need the assistance from these brave generations so that they can carry the
torch for the generation after them.
Mobilize yourselves, Korean and Vietnam veterans. Your fellow Americans desperately need you.
